Top 5 Honeymoon Destinations

Image by on FlickrAfter months and months of planning and preparation that involves intense discussions with the soon-to-be-in-laws, your honeymoon really is something to look forward to. It’s a time when you and your beau can really just relax and enjoy every moment that you have together – with no stress whatsoever. So picking your honeymoon destination is kind of important. Do you want to just lie on the beach and soak up the sun? Do you want to do a bit of sight-seeing? Do you want to be within reach of your relatives, or as far away as possible? Do you want to go somewhere where there will be things to do or nothing but sunbathing and swimming in crystal clear waters?

1) Hawaii

For the classic honeymoon destination, head to Hawaii. With its golden beaches, tall palm trees, tropical flowers and stunning sunsets, it’s a beautiful place to kick off the rest of your fabulous life together. Stay in a resort or a bungalow, go horseback riding, parasailing, or snorkeling. Book a Hawaiian massage for two, then order a pair of Pina Coladas and relax by the swimming pool.

2) Fiji

The islands of Fiji are a beautiful place to honeymoon in the South Pacific Ocean. Wake to the sound of the ocean and the love of your life beside you. Take a romantic picnic with you while you explore different islands during the day. Go windsurfing, sailing, kayaking or take a sunset cruise. With the glorious weather and crystal clear water, you’ll be sure to enjoy this wonderful holiday with your beloved.

3) Whitsunday Islands

The Whitsunday islands off the coast of Queensland are a stunning location to spend your honeymoon. For those that just want to relax, you can soak up a massage and bask in the sunshine. Others might want to go snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, go water skiing, take a bushwalk on Hamilton Island or play a game of golf.

4) Sydney, Australia

If you’re after a honeymoon destination that isn’t a resort, but has access to beautiful beaches, and is an incredibly beautiful and welcoming city, head to Sydney, Australia. Stay in a hotel overlooking one of the city beaches, or in a hotel in the city overlooking the beautiful harbor with the magnificent Opera House. Stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens, go swimming at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, and see a show at the Opera House. While you’re soaking up a little Aussie culture, enjoy the fresh fantastic modern cuisine options on offer, from fresh seafood to Sydney’s bustling Chinatown. Or for a lazy afternoon, you can always order in.

5) Florence, Italy

For a romantic Italian honeymoon, Florence has to be at the top of the list. Overflowing with art and culture, it’s a dream getaway for lovers. See Michelangelo’s David, and as much Renaissance art as you can take.  For romantic day trips, visit the town of Vinci where Leonardo da Vinci was born.

Take a wine tasting tour of Tuscany, or if you fancy yourself a bit of a cook, take an Italian cooking class in Tuscany. Of course one of the wonderful things about taking your honeymoon in Italy is the food and wine. So live it up and enjoy the gelato, now that the big day is officially over!
