Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries' Wedding Wrap-Up
This weekend was sure buzzing with wedding bells but it wasn't the Royal Wedding this time! Instead it was the Royal Wedding 2.0 that revolved around Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. The gorgeous reality star's wedding was much anticipated by many of her fans. But I'll tell you first hand, we're proud here in Minnesota of our Minneapolis-grown boy, Kris Humphries who formerly lead a successful basketball career for the Minnesota Gophers. But enough of the background, let's get to the juicy wedding details!!
The Invitations
What would a lavish wedding be without lavish wedding stationery? The bride decided to use the same invitation designer as her sister Khloe, and had Lehr & Black whip them up. The black and white wedding invitations each came in their own silver box and featured hundreds of 'jet black hematite crystals' says People.com. Notice the double K monogram at the top of the invite for Kim and Kris. So clever! And very cute.
The invitations were rumored to cost around $250 each. Yowza!
The Guests
For starters, the wedding was held at a private estate in Montecito, California where the couple was surrounded by 450 of their closest friends and family members. Some of the celebrities in the crowd that you might recognize included Ryan Seacrest, Ciara, Mario Lopez, Serena Williams, Eva Longoria, Brody Jenner and Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Carmelo Anthony, Kathy Lee Gifford and obviously many more. It was rumored that Kim had to cut 50 guests before the wedding came on Saturday because there simply wasn't room for everyone.
The Bridal Party
Of course among the bridesmaids were Kim's sisters, Khloe and Kourtney who donned white Vera Wang bridesmaid gowns. Continuing the trend that was seen in the Royal Wedding with Pippa Middleton wearing her white bridesmaid dress. Could we be seeing more of this trend in the near future? Likely. I'm keeping my eyes open for it. On the groom's side, we saw Rob Kardashian and Lamar Odom sporting black Zegna tuxes. Along with Bruce Jenner and Kris' father, William Humphries. But the cutest man there of course was little Mason, Kim's nephew. He filled the ring bearer role and stole the crowd's hearts, naturally.
The Dress
Kim kept everyone waiting with her dress reveal, but it was known early that it would be designed by Vera Wang. Though elaborate photos haven't been released yet, there have been a few that give a sneak peak of the dress which shows a gorgeous, strapless, ivory gown with a basque waist and lace details, with a stunning train. One of the details Kim added to her outfit for the day was less trendy and more 'her'. She wore a jeweled headpiece that draped elegantly over her forehead. We haven't seen too much of this before, but it may become one of the wedding accessories to watch for in upcoming nuptials for sure!
Side note, she also lined up two reception dresses to change into, that were also designed by Vera Wang.
The Theme
Simple, elegant and classy, Kim kept her theme to black and white. Starting with the invitations and ending with her big day. With the beautiful black and white aisle runner, white bridesmaid dresses, and black tuxes, it was a simply regal theme.
The Cake
The star couple's 6 foot tall wedding cake featured 10 layers of chocolate and vanilla swirl deliciousness covered in decadent frosting (yum!) The cake cost somewhere between $15,000-$20,000 - no big deal.
The Cost
The cost for this extravagant wedding is said to be in the ballpark of around $20 million. But the thing about it is that they will likely be coming out on top for all the free exposure for all the brands that helped them build their big day. Freebies include the cake, a hefty discount on the wedding rings, all 3 of Kim's wedding gowns (at $20,000 each), wedding invitations plus lots more. Not to mention, the couple sold the exclusive rights of wedding photos to People for $1.5 million. There will also be an E! wedding special that the celeb duo was paid $15 million for.
The Rest
The wedding was set to go until early hours of the morning on Sunday (August 21st) but it seems the neighbors phoned the police to come in and quiet down the party. The cops showed up and the music was shut down at midnight. But that didn't seem to phase the party, as guests hung around until 2am before heading home for the night. Kim seemed okay with it, probably because there are reportedly plans to have a second reception to follow on August 31 in New York City.
What do you think? Did you enjoy any special details of her wedding? Did anything surprise you?

Black & White Wedding Favor Ideas
One of the most elegant and traditional color schemes for a wedding is black and white so it is no wonder that this palette is one of the most popular choices for weddings today. When it comes to choosing black and white favors, the sheer number of options can be staggering. You can find personalized and non-personalized choices as well as traditional favors that are timeless classics and whimsical favors that feature zebra stripes or polka dots. Just choose a favor that will convey your thank you sentiments along with your personal style. I found this montage of my favorite black and white wedding favors that are available from Wedding Favors Unlimited. The damask wedding favors are definitely becoming popular, they're so pretty!!

For the traditional bride and groom, a damask or flourish-patterned favor is a great choice. For example, the damask covered candle favors in the upper left hand corner of the collage or the black and ivory flourish-patterned boxes in the middle would be a classic choice. The boxes arrive with the matching ribbon so you simply assemble and fill them with your favorite candy, mint or trinket for a stunning presentation to your guests. My personal favorite in this color palette are the "Timeless Traditions" black and white photo coaster wedding favors in the lower right hand corner. The 3.5" square glass coasters are packaged in sets of two and arrive with a white sheer ribbon and a center card that reads "For You". The white floral pattern on the jet black glass background is beautiful.
No matter what favor you choose, your guests are bound to be thankful that you cared enough to give them a little something to take home with them!

Black, White, and Pink Wedding Cakes
Black, White & Pink....the perfect color scheme for the bride that loves pink, but doesn't want to overwhelm her groom and guests with too much of the "girly" color. The great thing about pink is the variety of shades available ranging from fuchsia to dainty light pink to a bright hot pink and best of all, they all go with black and white perfectly. Adding a splash of your favorite shade of pink to things like the floral bouquets, wedding favors, and of course, the wedding cake is the perfect way to incorporate pink into the color scheme without going over the top.
In search of the perfect wedding cake....a picture is worth a thousand words so I've put together a montage of photos of some of my favorite black, pink and white wedding cakes (and cupcakes too). As you can see in the collage below, the options for incorporating pink into the cake are limitless. Want some whimsy? Try a retro black polka dot on top a bright white or pink fondant or how about a topsy-turvy style cake that incorporates round, square and tilted cake layers. For a more traditional look, use pink roses, black and white damask, or classic scroll work with pink ribbons on your cake. My personal favorite is the square tiered cake that incorporates a monogram initial within a large hot pink circle on the top layer....unique and fun all at the same time!
Having a cherry blossom themed wedding? The black, white and pink color scheme may be the perfect choice for you. There a lot to choose from these days, and many of them are just too cute to miss!

Black, Yellow & White Wedding Cakes
Calling all modern brides! This fresh and cheerful color scheme should be right up your alley. The traditional black and white color scheme can be brought into the 21st century by pairing it with bright sunny yellow accents. I absolutely love this color scheme for spring and summer weddings!
If you've been a Here Comes The Blog follower, you know that I'm all about the dessert so I went on a quest to find my favorite black and white wedding cakes that featured bold yellow accents. What I found was a fantastic mix of both traditional and modern wedding cakes that I wanted to share with you. Check out the collection of cake ideas below. Notice how black and white is used as the primary color scheme, but all of the cakes utilize bright yellow dots, colorful daisies, yellow roses, or yellow icing patterns to create this amazing array of images. I believe that sunflowers with a dark black center would also be a fantastic accent flower choice for this color scheme. If you love any of these cake designs, be sure to print out the photo and take it along to your wedding cake designer so they can get a feel for your style and color preferences.

Black, White & Green Wedding Cakes
Black and white is truly a classic wedding color scheme that has been used again and again by brides over the years. That said, a recent trend amongst brides is to add a great accent color such as green or yellow to the mix. And why not? A timeless classic spiced up with a punch of color is a great way to modernize a wedding.
Planning a Spring Wedding? Nothing symbolizes spring more than the emergence of green foliage so why not tie a fresh Springtime green into your wedding color scheme! One of my favorite things about green is the wide range of hues to choose from....lime, a yellow-green chartreuse, or a bright grass green are my favorite shades to pair with black and white.
If you are looking for some inspiration, check out the collage of wedding cake photos below. I've pulled together some of my favorite black and white cakes that feature green accents. Whether you are going for a fun whimsical look or an elegant more traditional look, you can utilize green to achieve amazing results. Patterns such as polka dots, stripes or tilted layers can be used to create more laid-back cake designs while patterns such as damask, quilting, and flourish can be used for traditional cakes. Accenting with green bows or flowers such as calla lilies or orchids can also add a bit of pop to a beautiful wedding cake.

Black, White & Red Wedding Cakes
Add a Splash of Romance to your black and white wedding... Use red accents on your wedding accessories and of course, on your wedding cake! A classic black and white color scheme can sometimes be a bit stark and boring if it isn't done correctly, but you can avoid the "boring" label by using an accent color like red. You can see in the montage of photos below that when it comes to the cake you can go in a wide range of directions.
Want a bit of whimsy? Consider a topsy-turvy style wedding cake where the layers appear misaligned and seem to tilt as though they might fall over at any minute. For good cake bakers, the threat of a great topple is truly an illusion. Another way to bring in a whimsical touch is through the use of interesting patterns such as retro polka dots, diamonds, or stripes.
Prefer to have a classic style? No problem, use red roses as accents on and around the cake. Or use a classic pattern that is applied on the white fondant such as toile, damask or any type of elegant scrollwork. The cake in the lower left corner of the collage that utilizes pearl-shaped modeling chocolate along with black bows around each layer would be a great choice for a classic, elegant black and white wedding.
If you had a Las Vegas wedding and are throwing a celebration party when you get home, a black and white cake with red accents will tie in the Vegas theme perfectly. After all cards, dice, and poker chips all play off a black, white and red color scheme.
A classic cake or one with a bit of whimsy?
No matter which one you choose, red is always a great choice with black and white.

Black & White Wedding Cakes
Many brides and grooms think that a purely black and white monochrome wedding cake design might be boring, but I'm here to tell you that is definitely not the case. There are so many design variations available that you can have a unique and extraordinary black and white cake that has an air of sophistication too. In the photo collage below, you can see some of my favorite black and white wedding cakes. I've tried to choose a good cross-section of different designs so that you can see all the great options, patterns, and themes. Consider a white fondant or icing base with black accents such as swirls, polka dots, black ribbon, a silhouette of the bride and groom, stripes and even silver/black/faux diamond jewels. If you want some whimsy or drama, how about zebra stripes or large black feathers? The options are really endless.
And don't forget that black and white pairs perfectly with red, pink, lime green or yellow so if you plan to use one of these accent colors in your other wedding accessories, you should carry it through to the cake as well. In future posts, I will have collages that show black and white cakes with each one of these colors. Be sure to check back in the next few weeks!

Black & White Reception Table Setting Idea
I was so impressed with this elegant black and white reception table setting that I saw in the Weddingstar catalog...I immediately thought that I needed to share it with our Here Comes The Blog readers. No color scheme is more elegant than classic black and white and you can see that upscale, elegant look in the photo below.
How is the look achieved?
A simple round table is draped in white satin fabric that is overlaid with an elegant black/silver table runner. Silver charger plates, silverware, and champagne flutes featuring a silver stem and engagement ring design, and black napkins with silver plated diamond napkin rings provide the essentials for each of the dinner guests.
A beautiful white floral bouquet constructed from white dahlias, white lilies and greenery provides a central focal point that sits directly below the black bead covered chandelier. The floral centerpiece is further accented with black love votive candles, white tall pillar candles in glass vases and a trio of glass diamond shaped tealight candle holders.
Guests can easily find their tables because a tall silver wire number holder along with the number card is also placed on each reception table. White tea/coffee cups and white heart-shaped salt/pepper shakers are also place on each table. Finally, the wedding favors are placed at each place setting. Favors include mini tux and wedding dress favor bags filled with candy and personalized black and white favor tags. The effect of all these components is simply stunning!
