Mission: Color Scheme Green

Green Wedding Color SchemeThere are many colors that seem to get used more than others for weddings. Reds are very popular, along with black, pink, and blue. But people seem to overlook the simple, natural choice of green. It's a mystery why, however, because there are so many ways to make green the most magnificent color scheme out there.

Green Wedding Flowers

Simple white roses, daisies, or any color really, if you wish the flowers to pop, you can always go with bold and vibrant bouquets to really accent your bridesmaids.

For reception decorations, opt for white flowers and green tablecloths. These look beautiful together and when you look around the room from your bridal party table, you'll love the way everything looks so unique and coordinated.

Green Wedding Favors

Decide why you wanted to use green as your wedding color scheme. Was it because you wanted to 'go green' and be eco-friendly? If so, then choose eco friendly wedding favors. These are great to go with your theme. Maybe you chose green because you love the way it's nature inspired and you love the way flowers complement it so naturally with every petal. If that's the case, then opt for items that would revert to your original inspiration. Favors involving flowers, nature, or something of the sort, would be sure to incorporate your original ideas.

Green Reception Sites

Choose a reception site that will accent your color choice. A place that would work wonderfully might just be a garden or an outdoor reception site in the Spring, Summer or Fall. The grass will undoubtedly coordinate with your decor, dresses, flowers, and everything else that you'd prepared for the big day!

You could even swing this the other way, where you produce an elegant reception hall with white and green draped from the ceiling. Use crisp green, white or even yellow linens to make the color scheme carry through the whole reception site.

Green Eco-Friendly Wedding Ideas

Going green on your wedding can be easier than you think.  When it comes to keeping things eco-friendly at your wedding, just think about longevity and the idea of reusing and recycling when choosing accessories for your big day.  Things like the cake topper, champagne flutes, and serving sets should be selected with the future in mind….choose something that you can not only use on your wedding day, but also in your home for years to come.

For the wedding flowers, consider growing your own or ask your friends and family members that have a green thumb to contribute some blooms from their own personal backyard gardens.  For spring time weddings, lilacs are a fragrant and lovely choice.  In the summer, many gardeners have extra large hydrangea blooms that make perfect centerpieces for the reception area. At a minimum, consider using a local garden center or florist that grows their own flowers locally.

When it comes to eco-friendly wedding favors, choose items constructed from bamboo or give grow-able items such as wildflower seed favor kits, herbs (like the rosemary shown in the photo) or small trees that the guest can take home and plant in their own yard.

Create invitations, wedding programs, table number and place cards from recycled paper.  And finally if you are going green, then by all means go organic too.  Finding locally grown organic beef or chicken and vegetable selections has gotten much easier.  Just consult with your caterer and request an organic meal for your reception.

Even if you only incorporate a few of these ideas, you are taking a step in the right direction!
